There are many times, particularly in the winter months, when going to the gym is more difficult than usual, or at times, impossible! Whether the gym is closed because of a holiday or the snow is keeping you at home, there’s never a need to skip you’re planned workout just because you’re not at the gym. For this very reason, I collect workout DVD’s! Because it is so easy for the body to get used to any given routine, I try to rotate them as frequently as possible. My current favorites are:
This DVD is good for some feel-good fitness. To be honest, it’s not the most difficult workout I’ve ever done, but it’s fun! There are several different routines that you can choose from, and once you get the coordination part down with the routines, you can focus on working up a sweat. It’s definitely an excellent “gateway” dance DVD – it makes me want to try others!
This is an intense interval workout. The women in the DVD are so ripped, it’s scary, but I guess that is part of the motivational aspect. There is jungle music, cardio and weight lifting all rolled into one. There are two complete routines, each one very challenging and about 45 minutes long. It proves that you don’t need a full-fledged machine to get a decent cardio routine in at home.
This is my personal favorite. It is a circuit training concept, and there are a ton of different ways to use it. There are separate tracks for abs, lower body and upper body, so you can do any combination of the three or the full body circuit option. All you need is a mat and some free weights to get yourself in business. The best part is that if you are strapped for time, each circuit is only 15 minutes, so there’s no excuse for not squeezing one in.
I’ve actually had all these for quite some time, so it is really overdue for me to find some new ones and work them in to my routine. Those will be first on my shopping list for February!
