Sometimes, especially in the winter, it’s difficult to keep yourself up and going to the gym, eating well and in good spirits. The weather is dreary, it gets dark super early and most of the time, you have to put on so many clothes before you walk out the door, it hardly seems worth it. So, every once in a while, when the motivation is waning, I try to find it in the most unlikely of places. Here are three from today:
1. My car. The first song that came on the radio when I turned on my car today (and finished scraping the ice off all the windows) was “What a Feeling” from Flashdance. As I’ve mentioned in the past, 80’s music in general motivates me, but especially this morning, after an amazing workout, this tune really got me jiving.
2. My butt. Because of the butt-kicking workout this morning (pun unfortunately intended), I started to get some sore glute muscles around 1 or 2pm. Walking was more difficult, but I love sore muscles because they are physical proof that the exercise I’m doing is working like a charm.
3. Other bloggers. This evening, before heating up yet another night of somewhat uninspiring leftovers, I was grazing through some of the blogs I read on a regular basis. Some of them are fitness-focused, some not, but tonight, each one had what seemed like a special shout-out message to me to incorporate in to my current life. Thanks, guys!
Off to read my fabulous book, “Full Dark, No Stars,” by Stephen King. It’s super creepy. Hopefully Penny will protect me!
