Italian Tapas

For Christmas, Husband and I bought our parents tickets to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. We didn’t get seats for ourselves, but figured that we would meet them out for dinner in the city before the show. Looking for a place that takes reservations, has parking (valet!), is reasonably priced and wonderful food, we settled on Quartino (also the site of a portion of my bachelorette party). Upfront, I’ll admit that I got way too excited about seeing our parents and the delicious food. I forgot all about taking any pictures until it was way too late. This restaurant brings food out as it is ready and encourages people to share all the dishes that are ordered. We started with an all-time favorite pizza – the Rustica! It includes Potato, Pancetta, Onion, Rosemary and Grana. It’s an amazing blend of flavors that I always enjoy. We also ordered Polenta fries, which come with a very complimentary sauce. After that we decided on another pizza, the Quattro Stagioni. Toppings include: Artichokes, Roasted Red Peppers, Grilled Zucchini, Portabello Mushrooms and Grana. I had never tasted this one before, but of course I loved it! There was one piece of it left when I remembered I hadn’t snapped any photos:

How sad. I missed photo opps with the Mushroom Risotto as well, but NOT with the last dish of the evening, the Ravioli:

Everything was accompanied by Quartino’s amazing red house wine, that comes in these conveniently sized carafes:

At the end of the night, everyone was happy, and their plates were empty:

Later, we met up with Kat and Brian and were able to frequent one of our favorite bars for a few drinks and some live music, Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort. It was as expected, a lot of fun 🙂
