After a run yesterday (4 miles – woo hoo!) I was definitely ready for some strength training today. Unfortunately, when my alarm went off, my body was not in “getting up” mode. I did the internal debate, and the procrastination – it was not pretty. As I have mentioned previously, the gym is crowded and unpleasant during the prime, after-work hours. I decided to sidestep that issue with one of the DVD’s I purchased a bit back, Jillian Michael’s “No More Trouble Zones.”
This DVD is one of the best at-home workouts I have experienced so far. It is a series of circuits that work all the major muscle groups: quads, hamstrings, glutes, triceps and biceps, not to mention a couple of circuits that target abs. It is fast-paced so the 45 minutes seems like no time at all. All you need are some hand weights, and a mat, and you are good to go with Jillian!
It’s been approximately two hours since I finished the workout, and my glute muscles are already starting to get sore, which I take to be a good sign. I was so energized by my workout, that I decided to tackle some cleaning. The below picture is what happens when you don’t put away clean laundry for three weeks (don’t judge):
This is my patented system where I sort all the clothes into piles based on where they have to be put away. It’s ingenious. As old episodes of “Boy Meets World” rolled through the background (I have some of them on DVD), I tore through cleaning the bedroom, the living room …
One thing’s for sure; I may dread the afternoon workout, but apparently it puts me in high gear for productivity during the evening hours! Hopefully I can make myself get up early tomorrow for my run, though. Guess we’ll see 🙂
