One of my favorite rooms has been causing me pain and mental discomfort lately. The kitchen. There are a few things related to our food consumption and its tangential activities that have really been bugging me, and I have decided that the following are my new Kitchen Resolutions:
1. Plan, plan, plan. We always buy too much or too little, take too many trips to the grocery store and inevitable end up asking each other, “What are we doing for dinner?” From now on, I’m going to start planning out our meals ahead of time, writing them down, and making the grocery lists from that plan. This way, we will hopefully spend less, waste less, and not have to worry about impromptu dinner!
2. Keep it clean. Too often, we put off doing the dishes or cleaning the kitchen, and the dirtier it becomes, the more overwhelming the prospect of cleaning seems. Dan is super busy with work and homework, so I am taking it upon myself to make more of an effort to keep the kitchen clean. When it’s dirty, I’m less likely to cook or bake, which leads me to the third resolution.
3. More experimentation in the kitchen! Both cooking and baking – it’s easy to fall into a rut. But, I get a rush out of trying new recipes, seeing what works, tweaking it to my needs and likes, trying something else instead, etc. Part of the reason I keep this blog is to encourage myself to try new things in the kitchen and the gym (and with wine!) so that’s what I’m going to start doing more of. Rest assured.
