This morning, aside from the fact that it was Monday, my body was still VERY tired from my weekend of fun in Washington D.C. visiting Meg. When my workout alarm went off at 5:30am … it was quickly shut off with me still in bed.
Dan got my week off to a great start with one of my all-time favorite breakfasts:
The (veggie) bacon, egg and avocado bagelwich on a Bagel Thin tasted amazing, but didn’t quite pull me out of my case of the Mondays. I felt pretty out of it for most of the day, and I was definitely dragging (despite plenty of coffee!) This displaced feeling was only further solidified when we hit the gym after work.
I made an executive decision to run, even though I REALLY didn’t want to. I hopped on the only available treadmill (my gym was super crowded with the after-work exercisers) and began my run. Unfortunately, this treadmill was left open for a reason. It was broken! At random intervals, the belt would slow down suddenly and then speed back up. As interesting as it was to try to keep up with this added element of surprise, it was hurting my back. So after a mile, I hopped off and headed out in search of a new activity. The next machine I came to that had an opening, was the Stair Stepper, which actually turned out to be a decent choice. I cranked up the speed and my music, and Jay-Z got me through 35 minutes of high-intensity stepping. I can’t even remember the last time I sweated so much.
Tomorrow will be a more even-keeled day, I’m sure.
