Not that we don’t have enough going on in our lives at the moment, but Dan and I have decided to take on a couple of projects. Mine is more long-term. I have decided to learn how to sew. I want to make clothes, pillows, blankets, the works! My mom is quite a pro, and she has offered to teach me. I’m thrilled and can’t wait until my lessons begin.
Dan’s is more … alcohol-focused. He already brews beer, which I keep asking him to document and blog about (he still hasn’t!), but this is a new project. Fruit-infused vodka! He got it in his head last weekend that he was going to take some really high-quality liquor (Tito’s), add some fruit (blackberries, raspberries and blueberries) into the appropriate container … and VOILA!
It’s been marinating for more than a week now, and the berries are ripe with vodka. They are turning white and taste absolutely terrible. I tried one, and it tasted like SHOE POLISH! After I swallowed it, Dan told me I wasn’t supposed to eat them. But then through a Facebook debate, someone else told me I could bake with those berries and strip the alcohol right out in the process! Definitely something I will have to experiment with in the very near future. In the meantime, I’m enjoying it on the rocks with a bit of Diet Squirt in the mix:
PS- that’s a picture of Meg and I in the background (we’ve been friends for 21 years!) and I AM using one of my workouts (complete with stick figure drawings) for a coaster.
