Last weekend, things were a little crazy for Dan and I – I was working at the Home and Housewares Show at McCormick Place, prepping for my trip to LA and Dan is crazy with his class schedule and homework right now. Luckily, in the midst of all of this, we were able to make one amazingly enjoyable meal together and hang out! We decided to create our own little steakhouse, since neither of us generally eats a lot of red meat. We picked up some beautiful NY Strips and some traditional sides, but put a few twists on them. I actually created my OWN recipe with no help from the Internet (spoiler alert – it turned out amazingly). I will dedicate a separate post to that particular recipe, but for now, let’s just bask in the warm glow of these amazing meal pictures that take me back to a fully satisfied after-dinner trance.
I promise, I promise, recipe forthcoming (it’s for the potatoes!), but also, we marinated the steak in the most delicious apple horseradish sauce. I had never heard of it before, but it is goooooood.
We had a smattering of other issues related to the propane tank and our grill, so the steaks were ultimately cooked in the kitchen, but Dan did a wonderful job making sure they were just the right amount of pink. Here’s to enjoying the things you have time to.
