Inspiration for the Uninspired

Not sure if it’s the sudden drop in temperature or the “in-betweeness” of seasons at the moment, but I have a slight case of the uninspireds today. So instead of trying to eek out a forced blog post that you (and I) will inevitable find boring and pathetic, I’ll show you some recent findings that I DO think are interesting and inspirational.

Joseph Gordon-LevittJGL first appeared on my radar via “Ten Things I Hate About You,” won me completely over in “500 Days of Summer” and then pushed my love for him into borderline obsession via this duet with another fave of mine, Zooey Deschanel. He’s adorable, endearing and completely entrepreneurial. Follow him on Twitter (@hitRECordJoe) or stalk his tumblr ( but please just let him into your life. You shan’t be sorry you did.

The Happiness ProjectI picked up this book by Gretchen Rubin while at the airport last week, and while I’m about halfway through (and loving every moment), I have to really appreciate that in this day and age, there is an online component to supplement my journey through her journey. I particularly enjoyed her ruminations on Moments of Transcendence. For a Type A (freak) personality like mine, it’s wonderful to have happiness broken down into steps I can follow instead of cast out in the universe abstractly.

TREADMILL WORKOUTS: I love that as a result of the recent EXPLOSION of Pinterest, healthy living bloggers are making their workouts so visually appealing, and then strategically placing them above little buttons that beg me to “Pin It.” Having so many interesting options at my fingertips (on my phone, laptop, etc.) makes it more fun and convenient. Here are a few of the ones I found today (feel free to Pin them yourself if you dare!):

Here’s one from Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers.

Here’s one from Courtney at Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life.

Additionally, Courtney provided some really useful information about Peripheral Heart Action Training.

New Food Ideas: A great article from SELF shows some ideas for food planning (something that despite my best efforts and intentions, I have not been able to master to my complete satisfaction). Additionally, I recently made these cookies from Cooking Lightbranching out from my usual cupcake route. They turned out delicious and light. I am also dishes found on other blogs, like these tacos from Ericka at The Sweet Life.

  1. It’s overcast and dreary out. So it must be the weather as I feel the same. The Spicy Shrimp Avocado Soft Taco on The Sweet Life look like a happy and inspirational recipe to try. That might go with … a Central Vally Merlot perhaps?
    Thanks for sharing!

    • such a great idea! wine is another inspiration i forgot to include – guess i’ll have to do a separate post about inspirational wines…

    • thanks for the inspiration, courtney! your food has been really inspiring me lately too … you’re so much better about switching things up at breakfast than i am!
