dan and i have vowed to take full advantage of chicago’s many offerings this summer. we got an excellent head start this weekend, including a six mile run to investigate the bloomingdale trail:
a bike ride to new coffee favorite, ipsento (the below latte is made with coconut milk and organic honey. they also have a “nutella mocha” that i know i need to try some day soon).
a brief el ride to a local flea market to begin a rainy sunday morning:
other recent chicago conquests with no pictorial evidence:
fat rice: portuguese joint recently opened just down the street from our apartment and rumored to be one of the best places to eat by many, including chicago magazine. we can confirm the whisperings – amazing food and a unique atmosphere. just watch out if you order the crazy squid. it is hot.
intelligentsia: a coffee staple that recently debuted in logan square. drinking coffee at a bar was an entirely new experience for me, and i enjoyed it thoroughly.
pequod’s pizza: we’ve been hearing about the pizza here for quite some time. we finally checked it out, and while it is wonderful, it of course does not compare to the pies dan and i make at home.
siena tavern: another chicago magazine favorite. delicious food, though i’ve heard i need to go back to try the cocktails.
little goat: a more accessible and economical version of top chef winner stephanie izzard’s “girl and the goat.” unique and tasty!
but of course, we have barely made a dent in the looming list of chicago sights to see. here’s what’s on the short list:
there are many other restaurants, of course, but those are the big ones. does anyone have any amazing recommendations for can’t miss places or events in the city this summer?
