The “OMG – I have 60 Minutes to Work Out!??” Workout

Since becoming a mom, it is a RARE moment that I get to work out by myself, no interruptions for any decent period of time. We are also trying to save cash right now for an eventual home purchase, so I’m currently not willing to pony up the dough for a gym membership. This leads to a lot of DVD workouts and impromptu, but not usually workouts like this one. I got giddy at the prospect of a whole hour to myself (Dan took Ella to the store), so I just went buck wild with exercises. I was definitely sore the next day, so I guess it was effective! I used a variety of dumbbells to complete the below, totally based on how I was feeling after each rep – sometimes I switched weights in the middle of a set! Mine range from five pounds to ten, so just do what feels good for you!

MANHATTAN

Jumping Jacks – 20 reps
High Knees – 20 reps
Stairs – Up and Down 5 times
(repeat three times)

20 Sumo Squats
12 Pushups

(repeat three times)

20 Deadlifts
20 Bicep Curls
(repeat three times)

10 walking lunges (each leg)
15 shoulder raises

(repeat three times)

10 plank rows
(repeat two times)

FIVE 30 second sprints with 30 seconds of rest in between
